What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files set by a website in your browser. Local storage is a similar in-browser store used by web apps. Both let us remember preferences and run core features. Some are necessary; others are optional and only used after you choose.

Necessary storage

Always on. Without this storage the site cannot function correctly (sign in, secure sessions, remembering your language, etc.).

  • Authentication / session — keeps you signed in via Discord OAuth and protects requests against tampering.
  • Language preference — stores the language you selected so the site loads in the right one next visit.
  • Referral attribution — when you arrive through a referral link or code, we store it briefly in your browser so the attribution can be applied after sign-up.
  • Cookie consent — your choices on this page are saved in auramate.cookieConsent so we don't ask again on every visit.

Optional analytics

Only loaded if you accept analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are popular and how the site performs. We do not use it for advertising.

  • _ga, _ga_* — set by Google Analytics 4 only after you accept analytics. They help us count visits and track page views in aggregate.

If you reject analytics, no Google Analytics scripts are loaded and no analytics cookies are set. If you previously accepted and change your mind, GA stops receiving data.

How to change your choices

Open the footer at the bottom of any public page and click Cookie Settings. You can accept, reject, or fine-tune analytics at any time. Your decision is stored locally on this device.
